Hey everyone, welcome back, or if you are new to my blog welcome. How many of you have ever ran out of the house in the morning and didn’t have time to make breakfast? How many of you have an entire day planned with the family and you have to jump in the car and just go without making breakfast? Yes, I’m both and I get so scatter-brained when I don’t eat and when I’m still half asleep. I found a perfect breakfast that is healthy, yummy, and savory that is so easy and that can be made the night before. Chia blueberry overnight oats are what I’m talking about. The creamy oats, the sweetness of the honey, the amazing benefits of the chia seeds, and let’s not forget the natural sweetness of the blueberries.
After a lifetime of eating hot oatmeal, switching to eating cold overnight oatmeal can take a bit of getting used to. I promise it is worth a shot. Overnight oatmeal doesn’t have the same texture as hot/stovetop oats. It’s creamier, denser, and in my opinion, so much tastier. I’d take a jar of overnight oats over hot oats any day! This is the perfect breakfast for those that are always on the go. My best comparison is coffee—iced coffee and hot coffee are both coffee and are both totally tasty, but they are also inherently different. Overnight oats are the iced coffee on your breakfast plate!
Adding in chia seeds helps the overnight oats thicken and get nice and creamy. If you don’t have them around to add, cut back on the liquid by about 1/4 cup on each recipe, and be aware that your final oats won’t be as dreamy creamy. Even if you are new to the whole fitness scene, chances are one of the first things you hear about are the benefits of eating oats, not just for its health benefits but also for how it aids in weight loss. Oats are a versatile breakfast food that can be tweaked to taste as the consumer desires. It tastes just as brilliant with fruits as it does with some salt and spices. Another aspect that enhances the fitness credibility of oats is soaking them overnight for consumption the next day. Contrary to popular belief, overnight oats have an amalgamation of health benefits for the body and work wonders for weight loss.
Oats have a very well-balanced nutritional composition. They are high in a specific kind of fiber called beta-glucan, which is linked to lowering cholesterol levels and overall heart health. It also helps to combat diabetes, cancer, and other diseases. Oats have a good amount of protein, iron, thiamin, phosphorus, and selenium, and are also a great source of manganese and magnesium. Overnight oats are also more digestible after being soaked overnight. This means you absorb more nutrition from your food! Research has shown that a daily intake of healthy carbs like oats is connected with greater energy levels, improved mood, and weight loss. Oats and the other ingredients that go into overnight oats tend to be fairly inexpensive, so if you plan to have this a few times a week, you will likely be saving money. It will also really fill you up and satisfy you, so you will snack less and probably eat less at lunch. So again, this breakfast is both a time and money saver!
