With the holidays just around the corner, I’ve been noticing that all the recipes I am cooking up are heavy on the carbs and light on the protein. I have no clue why that is, but it seems that I am anticipating cooler weather and probably looking to add to the fluff that I am trying to loose. It’s becoming truly hard for me to past the candy aisles in the grocery store and not grab a bag or two of Halloween candy. Lucky for me Josh has become a drill sergeant when it comes to my diet. I didn’t realize that a late night conversation at 3am in the morning, of me complaining about me losing a little weight for my “BIG” craft show soon. Would lead him to being so tuff on me about my diet!
With Sergeant Josh taking all my temptations out the house I have been making a whole lot of smoothies. I never thought about adding egg whites to a smoothie because I was under the assumption since they were raw. Catching salmonella from consuming raw eggwhites could be possible. However All Whites egg whites are pasteurized, so they are ok to consume raw.
With only 25 calories and 5 grams of protein for each serving I am starting to think All Whites egg whites are a cheaper and lower calorie alternative then certain protein powders. If you are lactose intolerant (like me) or allergic to the whey in protein powders, this is a wonderful, all natural and cheaper option to try in your smoothies. I was contacted by All whites egg whites (tongue twister by the way) to recreate one of their recipes and of course I picked the smoothie! Because the smoothie alone is packed with 24 grams of protein, low in calories and full of flavor. However mine is dairy free and lower in fat because I don’t need “Sergeant Josh” on my case.
