If you miss this Monday minute episode make sure you watch the video if you’re looking to tone your skin. Lemons are an all-natural and cheap way to take care of your pores while on a budget. I prefer to use this toner about once a day and usually in the morning before I add anything to my face. You know how most people drink lemon water in the morning before they start there day. Well I half to spritz my lemon toner on my face before I start my day.
*Important Tip* Lemons are high in citric acid, so if you notice any fine bumps on your skin dilute your lemon toner ( or discontinue use) even more. I personally had this problem happen to me and the recipe I created cuts down on the citric acid. However some skin types are very sensitive to citric acid and the lemon toner needs to be diluted.
Lemon Toner Recipe:
1 ½ cups distilled water
½ tbsp. lemon juice
1-2 drops lemon essential oil
Recipe directions: In a small spray bottle add lemon juice, water, and essential and shake well. Once combine place in fridge and use when needed. The lemon toner is good for 1-2 weeks.

I am excited to try this Shundara! I have such large pores on my nose (TMI!? haha!) and would love to shrink them using natural homemade products (so much better on the wallet!). Can’t wait to try this! What brand of essential oil do you like to use?
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
I have so many brands that I use, but I usually find them at craft stores or I use lorann flavor oils. Thanks so much Cera 🙂

I need some clarification please. I assume the toner is for after you have washed your face, but do you pat or rub it in at all, or just spritz and leave it? Thank you! It’s very simple and I appreciate that. I also think that people who are highly sensitive to the content of citric acid in lemons may still make a similar product with other citrus fruits, like grapefruit, perhaps?
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
You really don’t half to use toner after you wash your face, some toners are used to clean, balance and tighten the skin. They can be used whenever, for the lemon toner you can spritz a bit on your face and let it dry or you can wet a cotton ball and rub it on your face. Citric acid from lemons and grapefruit will give you a rash if you’re sensitive to citric acid because they are both citrus fruit. I don’t know if grapefruit will help tone the skin I have not did my research yet 🙂

When you say to use lemon juice, should it be hand-squeezed from a lemon, or could it be store-bought lemon juice? I assume the natural lemon juice would probably be the better option, but I figured I would ask! (:
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
you can use store bought lemon juice, just make sure they don’t have too many preservatives and other additives.. I did squeeze this by hand though 🙂

Make sure you don’t go in the sun after using this for at least 12 hours. Citrus essential oils makes your skin very sensitive to burning with sun exposure

Good tip I forgot to add 🙂

Shundara@Savynaturalista says
I hope you enjoy the recipe 🙂
Aurea says
Can you also store it in room temperature instead of the fridge?
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
No it can’t not, the toner is water based and will go bad if left at room temperature 🙂
