I am a huge fan of anything with rolled oats, and I am a big sucker when it comes to granola. I love granola clusters, granola in yogurt and granola in cupcakes. If there is granola in it! I will eat it. It’s a very versatile treat that comes in all sorts of flavors.
I never understood when granola became such a healthy treat to eat; I guess if you add oats, then it has to be healthy. It may be healthy, but when you are watching calories they can add up quickly when eating granola. . I know I am not the only one who enjoys eating more granola then the package requires! That’s why I am happy you stopped by today! I have a lower fat version that only requires just 1 tbsp. of oil, and it’s actually good for you. Question of the day: What’s your favorite granola flavor?
Low Fat Sesame and Sunflower Seed Granola Recipe:
2 cups rolled oats
½ cup sunflower seeds
¼ cup sesame seeds
¼ cup ground flax seeds
¾ cup honey (I used creamy)
1 tbsp. coconut oil
Recipe Directions: Preheat oven to 400 degrees; in a large bowl mix oats, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, flax seeds, and coconut oil. Mix until combined, and place on a sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the oven for 5 minutes or until golden brown; let cool and place in a bowl. Pour honey over mixture and mix until combined; once combined place in the oven for 10-15 minutes. Let cool and store in air tight container.
