I love eating a good protein bar, but I always find myself wondering why those tiny little bars have so many calories and are high in fat.
It’s the nuts I tell ya! While nuts are high in protein they are also high in fat, and I never just eat a handful of nuts or just one protein bar.
Cinnamon raisin proteins bars are pretty high in protein, thanks to the oat bran, protein powder, and egg. Instead of just having one tiny bar I can enjoy two!
Cinnamon Raisin Protein Bars Recipe:
1 ½ cups rolled oats
1 cup oat bran
½ cup sugar (I used coconut)
½ tbsp. cinnamon
1 scoop protein powder (I used raw protein)
½ cup apple sauce
½ cup egg whites
1 cup raisins
Recipe Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees; grease an 8*8 inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper. In a large bowl mix the dry ingredients; add apple sauce and egg whites to dry ingredients. Stir until the mixture is moist. Fold raisins into the mixture until they are mixed in. Place mixture into baking pan and press down firmly. Place in the oven for 30 minutes or until the top is firm to the touch. Let cool, cut into bars and store in a air tight container.

I find it hard to only eat one bar too when I’m hungry so this lighter version sound awesome! Cinnamon raisin is a fantastic combo and I love the extra fiber from the oat bran 🙂

Hi!
Thanks! This looks great and was just the type of recipe that I was looking for.
Just wondering – have you played around with less sugar or sugar substitutes? I was thinking of possibly trying 1/4 cup instead. I also only have vanilla protein powder so was going to try with that. Thanks in advance!

I used ½ cup coconut sugar when I first started transitioning to coconut sugar, so ¼ cup will work perfectly in this recipe and it will be less calories. I want to let you know if you use sugar substitutes (splenda and stevia in the white form) the bars may be dry so make sure you add more moisture to the batter if it does not form 🙂
