I love flavoring my kombucha tea with fruits and certain veggies (mostly carrots), but I am a big fan of adding loose leaf tea to kombucha. Letting it sit for a day or two before you drink it enhances the flavor, you will feel like you’re drinking a bubbly ice tea mixture. Berry hibiscus is one of my favorite flavors to add to kombucha, it tastes just like berry flavored soda.
A few weeks ago when I was in target, I met this lovely lady and for some odd reason we got to talking about kombucha. She told she loves to add a bit of sake to her kommbucha because it really enhances the flavor. I have not tried yet, but I am looking forward to trying it pretty soon.
It’s been almost two weeks since we made kombucha, and I just wanted to give you a bit of an update. Depending on the temperature you should have a thin layer growing at the top of your jar. That is the scoby preparing to grow! In about two more weeks (if the temperature doesn’t drop) you will have a full grown scoby!
Next week we will talk about mold and other factors that may affect your kombucha!

Wow, this is so interesting seeing the progress of your kombucha Shundara, it looks like it’s flourishing really well:) Those flavors sound wonderful to add to your kombucha tea and had no idea about adding sake too.

Me either I plan on trying pretty soon if I don’t forget :). I just never have any sake on hand..
