I am a big fan of making hearts out of the simplest things, paper, wire, and clay. I love making clay charms and giving them a ways as gifts. I have a few special ideals for these clay charms so let’s start making them!
What you will need:
Baking Clay
Paint brush
Eye Pins
Super Glue (optional)
Heart cookie cutter
Translucent liquid sculpey (optional)
Gloss Glaze
Form clay into medium size balls and roll out to desire length. Make sure you smooth the clay out so finger prints will not show. I like to use a marker, or once there done baking sand them with a bit of sand paper. Press the cookie cutter into the clay (if you press to deep and it ends up in the cookie cutter, take the other end and blow it out). Blowing out the clay reduces a lot of fingerprints and spots from trying to get the clay out the cookie cutter. Gently remove the heart from the rest of the clay
Use cutting wires to cut eye pins to desired length, and place eye pin in the top center of the heart..If the eye pins come out after baking you can add a little bit of super glue, or you can add TLS to the eye pins before baking them… I like to add just a bit of glue at the tip of the eye pin and stick it back in the heart!
The cookie cutter will create dents on the side of the clay hearts; you want to smooth them out so they can look just like the heart in the middle. Once smooth bake according to the instructions on the clay package… Spread a thin layer of gloss on each charm and wait until they dry before you touch them! The dark red charm at the top is what happens when you touch them and they are not dry yet..
