Cookie season is on at work this year and instead of running away from all the temptation. I decided to be a part of it and make some yummy and festive cookies. I will definitely make my co workers drool this year. The competition when it comes to baking can get competitive since everyone loves to bake.Β
This year I decided to be creative and turn sugar cookies into a tasty piece of artwork you can’t past up! Who does not love candy canes during the holiday season. They are so festive! You may get more looks with these festive candy canes then the regular Christmas sugar cookies with frosting.
Peppermint Candy Cane Cookie Recipe:
2 sticks butter (room temperature)
1 egg
1 cup powder sugar
1.5 tsp. peppermint extract
Β½ tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
Red food coloring
Green food coloring
Recipe Directions:Β Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl cream butter and sugar until creamy, add extract and egg to the bowl and mix together. Add flour and salt into bowl and mix until all the ingredients become a soft dough. Cut dough in half and color one half with red food coloring and the other with green food coloring. Place dough in zip lock bags and let chill for 30 minutes. Roll a small amount of each dough into 2-3 inch long worm. Place red and green dough together and roll the dough until it’s twisted into a long rope. Curve the end of the rope to look like a cane. Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are firm to the touch. Place on a cookie rack and cool completely. Serve with a glass of milk.
