Hunting season is in full effect in this house. I was not prepared for Josh to leave the house at five in the morning and not get back to late at night. Apparently you walk for miles and miles and whatever your target is you shoot and dinner is coming home to be cooked. I have no clue how to cook quail; he brought four home and now I am hunting for a quail recipe. I ‘m thinking about cooking it just like you would chicken but it looks nothing like chicken.
I think I like fishing better then hunting, if you leave early in the morning you come home early, your not out all day, and the best part you are able to sit down. When you’re hunting your gone all day, walking for miles and interesting animals come home that you have no clue what to do with. The only good thing about this hunting trip was I did not go and the granola bars I made. Country boys eat granola bars to! No bird food in these bars just a thick, chewy snack filled with peanut butter chips; great way to keep them energized all day long while walking for miles.
Country Boy Granola Bars Recipe:
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup coconut flakes (sweetened)
½ cup sunflower seeds
1 cup raisins
1 cup peanut butter chips
2/3 cup honey
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Recipe Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees, grease and line an 8*8 baking pan with parchment paper and set aside. On a baking sheet mix oats, coconut and sunflower seeds and place in the oven for 10 minutes. In a medium sauce pan on low heat place honey, peanut butter and sugar, bring mixture to a boil stir and turn off the heat. Take baking sheet out oven and let the oats cool.
Once cool place oats into a large mixing bowl add peanut butter chips mix and slowly add honey mixture to bowl. Stir and add to baking pan, press down and place in the oven for 15 minutes. Let cool, I cooled mine overnight. Cut and store in airtight container.

Wow, kudos to Josh for roughing it out all day long hunting! I have no clue how to cook quail either but I’m sure you’ll do a great job with so many resources online 🙂 These granola bars sound fantastic and would definitely be a great snack to fuel up on 🙂

I am hoping to everyone I have talked believes it’s just like chicken but I don’t know.
