Pineapples are real popular at all the grocery stores. Every sales ad has pineapple on sale; gosh they must really want me to buy pineapple and at 77 cent a pound you might as well buy a few.
I usually buy more then I should but this time Josh was with me so I was only able to get two. When I see a sale I like to stalk up before the price goes up. I can be such a food hoarder; especially if the “food hoarder police” are not around to stop me.
I am going to let you in on a little tip to get your pineapples cheaper. I’m really friendly with the produce people at a few stores I visit frequently. One of the produce guys taught me how to take off the pineapple stem on the top to get your pineapples cheaper. I usually end up with a few pineapple stems in my basket; however thanks to the tip my pineapples shed a few pounds when it’s time to check out.
Banana Pineapple Bread Recipe:
1 ½ cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 ¼ cup crushed pineapples (juice included)
2 smashed bananas (I used large)
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
Recipe Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a medium loaf pan and set aside. In a large bowl smashed bananas and add sugar mixing until creamy. Sift dry ingredients and place into the large bowl mixing with the wet ingredients. Fold crushed pineapple and juice into batter; place in medium loaf pan and bake for 45-60 minutes.

This looks really fresh and flavorful! What a great mix of two fruits – and banana bread is so comforting. I like the tropical feel of this one!

Whoa… what few ingredients!! I love that you keep this simple! Some recipes are soo long, but this looks short and SWEET! What a great idea to add pineapple!! I’ve never heard of that!! 🙂 Sounds delish!

I agree! When I see a long recipe I usually just do my own thing towards the end.. My pet peeve even though I am guilty of a few long recipes 🙂

Your bread looks fantastic! I love pineapples but I don’t think I have ever made bread with them. Love the tip on removing the stem to get rid of a little weight. Have to save a few pennies wherever we can!

I totally agree 🙂
