This Calming Sugar Scrub is one of my favorites; I cannot begin to tell you how good I feel right after using this scrub. I have been making this scrub for three years now ever since I came to Arizona. I started to make it because I would get these massive sinus headaches. The weather is so dry here that my sinus cavities dry up and the headaches are horrible and worse when you are under a lot of stress.
I know we all get headaches but you have not had a headache until you get a sinus headache. It’s like a migraine times three and gets worse as you breathe. This calming scrub has been a life saver; I am not saying it will work miracles but it will ease your sinus headaches. Rosemary works wonders in this sugar scrub and has a lot of benefits that will help. I know I get them almost all the time and I am not into taking aspirin every day or every other day, so the next best thing is making a scrub to relieve some of the pain.

This scrub looks like magic. I would not have though of adding rosemary oil but now that you say it, it seems like the only option. Why have I not considered that before?
Thanks for sharing.

I am hope you enjoy rosemary oil it really does work wonders, next to peppermint and spearmint; it is one of my favorites although in the beginning I was not as happy about it 🙂

So, do you just rub a little of this scrub on your temples to relieve the headaches?
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
I like to rub it on my temples, my shoulders, and my neck. It really helps relieve some of the pressure of a sinus headache and it opens you up.

Hi!
Did you use liquid coconut oil or the dense, harder kind?
I have only ever bought the dense kind for my scalp, so I am kind of new to the use of coconut oil.
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
If you’re using coconut oil from the grocery store (like I do) it’s normal for it to be solid (especially if you’re in a colder area). If you’re looking to melt it and turn it to a liquid just place it in the microwave if it’s hard as a rock, but if it’s a soft solid just mix it in with the sugar and it will melt right into it 🙂 Coconut oil is solid by nature and will become a liquid once temperatures get above 75-80 degrees. Hope this helps 🙂

This looks great!
I, too, moved to AZ, and have always struggled with sinus problems, and my new home made it so much worse. Using a neti pot/sinus rinse LITERALLY changed my life. I will always recommend it to anyone that gets bad sinus headaches. If you haven’t used one, give it a try.
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
I used to have one but I felt as if I was drowning!! I am going to half to try it again, thanks for the tip! 🙂

I love the idea of this scrub. My sister gets crippling sinus migraines so I’m surprising her with this. What would you class as “calming” tea?
Last ingredient I need to get : )
Thanks for posting : ) x
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
I thnik any calming tea will work. I have used lavender, chamomile or a mixture of both 🙂
Miriam says

This scrub looks great and I am so excited to try it. But as someone who was diagnosed with migraine disease over 15 years ago and has since seen several neurologists and can tell you that a sinus headache is not comparable to “true” migraine. Most people uses that term way too loosely in reference to a bad headache, having never been diagnosed. My prescriptions for migraine completely incapacitate me, as do the severe pain as nausea of the migraine. So I am also looking for homepathic aides to ebb the pain. Thanks for the recipe.

Crystal I have suffered from Migraines for 15 years also, cluster migraines. I hear what you are saying. When I use to go to the hospital for a shot because nothing was working and the nurse says ‘you’re here for a headache’ grrr I get so upset and say I’d welcome a headache but I Have a Migraine. Anyways after all these years of horrible narcotic med’s I have finally found Maxalt, very awesome, take the moment I have the ora and it no kidding keeps the Migraine from coming and No feeling of being high.

Thanks for the recipes for natural headache remedies. I cannot use any pain relievers (due to kidney/liver issues) so I am looking forward to trying some of these recipes 🙂

I’m eager to try this because my husband has had sinus drainage, almost constantly, for over a year. I’ve even started having sinus headaches, & I’ve NEVER been troubled with sinus problems. I notice 3 requests in your comments for how long to leave it on, but I never saw an answer to that question. Do your just put it on & leave it, or what? I’m new to scrubs, etc., so I need explicit instructions. Thanks so much for your time.

Most of the times I used it to soothe my mind by putting it over my whole body. There is no recommend time at the moment or when I made the scrub. Lately I am enjoying these sinus headache relief shower bombs. Although we are in Monsoon season I am still getting sinus headaches here and there. These shower bombs have been helping me 🙂 http://www.savynaturalista.com/2016/05/14/sinus-relief-shower-bombs/
