Lately I have been obsessed with eating loads of chocolate and texting Josh about 20 times a day. I think showing him pictures of my socks, what I have been cooking and saying I love you can get a little annoying. When he got home I got the evil stare! The look of can you stop with all the text messages. I guess the guys at work are laughing and he is blaming me for it (my thoughts). I don’t get why it is such a big deal. I have been limited to how many I can send him a day, and if I keep it up he will block me from sending him messages. I thought that was a bit much (what if it was an emergency)! Well in his words “that is what a phone call is for.” I decided that I would limit myself by dispersing them out during the day. My math is pretty bad but I think if I send him two every hour I would eventually end up with 20 and he will never know. Well I was blocked so now I am just eating chocolate again.
I really wanted to cut the scones into pretty shapes, but I got lazy and all I wanted to do was eat them while they were covered in melted chocolate. I wonder what else tastes good dipped or covered in chocolate. I am having a serious love affair with chocolate that I really want to start experimenting with it. I am going to wait to the weather gets a little cooler; I left chocolate out that I did not use yesterday and it melted everywhere. Whatever you do not let the air hit these bars, you will sure have a dried rock bar. Make sure you wrap them up tight.
Chocolate Cover Scone Bar Recipe:
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour (more for dusting)
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ cup sugar
- ¾ cup milk (I used dairy free)
- ¾ cup butter (un-salted)
- 1 egg
- 1 cup melted chocolate for coating
Recipe Directions: Preheat oven to 375 degrees
In a large bowl combine flour, salt, baking powder and sugar; add butter to the flour. Use forks to cut the margarine into the flour until it resembles a course meal.
Mix the egg and milk in a small bowl, and stir into flour mixture until the dough is moist. Place dough on lightly flour counter and began to knead dough until the dough becomes soft. Grease a 3 quart baking dish and place the dough into the baking dish. Work the dough to the edges of the dish and place in the oven for 10 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Let cool; once cool take the scone out of dish and began frosting with melted chocolate. Cut into squares and enjoy.
