I have been asking my sister for the past few weeks what does she want for her birthday. I keep getting the same answer, and I just keep asking her because we both know I am not getting her an Ipad. She can be such a diva.
I guess this time she is going to stand her ground because she think I will cave but when she sees her care package she will know who won this war.
This year she will have to suffer with one of my homemade gifts! I am happy that she is such a girly girl (true diva) that way I can send her care package with whistles and bows. I am sure my little diva will love this body scrub when it makes it to herβ¦

I had a few licks before I put in the extract.. π

Will the food coloring dye your skin? My daughter loves the idea of a pink scrub for favors for her birthday party but I don’t want to stain all of her friends!
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
Depending on how many drops you use it just may stain the skin.. If you don’t want the skin to stain 10 drops may be excessive. I have used 2-3 drops of pink food coloring with the recipe; you will get a light pink but stained skin will be minimal to non.. π

I’m wondering how long the Scrub will last? I want to give it as a gift but dont want an expiration date
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
If you keep it an in air tight container it will last a few months even longer. Make sure air or moisture does not hit the scrub, if it does it will be hard as a rock :).
Rita says
can i store it in a mason jar?
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
Of course you can π

Hi. I made this recipe, which is divine, but I forgot to put the lid back on after showering and my scrub is hard as a rock. Is there anyway to fix this?
Carmen says
where can I find essential oils? I’ve seen so many recipes with these on there but I could never figure out where to buy them!
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
I normally buy mine at whole foods, sprouts, hobby lobby, michaels, and Hi-Health. You can also get them online at amazon and mountainroseherbs has a great selection. However the essential oils are optional; you don’t really need them. They just make your scrubs smell lovely and have added benefits. π

The brown sugar in the picture looks different from regular light brown sugar. Is this found in a special part of the store or is it just the picture that makes it look different? My brown sugar just looks a lot different!!
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
I used Zulka pure can sugar which is a light brown, you can find it at any grocery store. If you canβt find it you can always just substitute it for extra white sugar.

can I store my homemade sugar an salt scrubs in my fridge? my house is always really warm and I don’t want the sugar and salt mixtures to melt ?
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
Yes you can, but for the pink sugar scrub it’s not needed.

I have more of a question than comment. I have a serious “bug attack and chew on me” problem. I am looking for a body wash & shampoo that will repel the biting bugs . No matter what kind of soaps, shampoos, or insect repellants, I still get eaten alive. Can you suggest something, or even make something I’m to the point I hate to go outdoors any more.
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
I don’t know of any shampoos or body wash, but I will be making candles pretty soon, here is a two ingredient bug repellent that I use for mosquitoes when I am working in the garden (works every time).. I hope it works for you

Take Vitamin B1 before you go out. I am the same way…if there’s a bug within 10 mikes it will eat me alive. In the rare occasion I go camping I take B1 and it helps. I don’t remember off hand how much you need to take but you can Google it to get the right dosage.
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
Thank you very much! I am going to try it! Do you take any specific brand? I am kind of weary about going to big box stores for vitamins.. Most of the vitamins I take or high quality vitamins.. π
