This year has been a cold one and we have a few more weeks to go before we can even head into spring. I usually try to limit my time in the shower during the winter just so my skin will not dry out. For Christmas I got a soap making kit and a few products from Lush. I got a big jar of shower jellies and they definitely made the process of taking a shower fun! I tried to use just a bit every shower I took, but with the blink of an eye the jelly was gone. There shower jellies are a wonderful and fun product that makes my skin feel so soft! I wanted to recreate that feeling. It took a few tries but I finally got a nice recipe with suds! Shower Jellies are a wonderful gift for bath lovers..
Don’t forget to scoop the bubbles
Look at those suds
Shower Jellies Recipe:
5 envelopes unflavored gelatin
1 cup castile soap
½ tbsp. glycerin
3 cups boiling water
Molds or Jars
Food coloring (I used gel)
Step 1: In a measuring cup add liquid soap and gelatin; set the mixture aside so it can thicken up (this should take about a minute)
Step 2: In a large bowl or pot add glycerin to hot water stirring for a few seconds. Once the glycerin has been added stir in the soap mixture; stirring until the mixture has dissolved into the boiling water (make sure there are no lumps).
Step 3: If you’re adding the mixture to molds add coloring to the bowl and pour into the molds. If you’re using jars add mixture to a few bowls, and place two drops of food coloring whisking until the color has been blended.
Step 4: Cover with saran wrap and place in the fridge until the mixture is firm.
Step 5: Layer your jars and give away as gifts.

Would candy molds be suitable for this project? If so, do they need to be oiled prior to use? If you use bowls rather than molds, do you just spoon it by pieces into your jar? I can’t tell from the picture….thanks!
Shundara@Savynaturalista says
You can use candy molds (silicone works the best). I have never added oil when using molds, but if you do use molds make sure you put them on a tray when you pour the soap into them. This will prevent them from spilling when you put them in the fridge. I did use a spoon to add them to the jar; if the jelly soap gets thick you can use your hands to rip them into pieces and add to the jars.

Hi! These look like great fun! Could you please tell me about how much this batch makes? I’d like to pass some out to the kiddos for birthday party favors. Thanks!
